Talk About Forum
The Toronto North LIP organized the “Talk About Forum” annually from 2017-2021 to create an opportunity for TNLIP member organizations to participate in discussions about promising practices and lessons learned while serving clients, and to document them. The Talk About Forum report looks at the member-led discussions from the 2019 “Talk About” forum, and emphasizes the necessity for service providers to understand and overcome disparities and system gaps in health and social services overall, in order for newcomers to have improved
accessibility and inclusion. This report is under redesign at the moment so please revisit this page to access the report at a later time.
Family Health Ambassadors Project
TNLIP started the Family Health Ambassadors (FHAs) pilot project in late 2018. The aim of the project was to improve newcomer access to family health services by training frontline workers as ambassadors to educate clients about the availability and confidentially of family health services in North York, and to make appropriate referrals. Due to the success of the project, TNLIP decided to develop a FHAs Train-the-Trainer toolkit to serve as a guide to interested health and social service providers, networks, local immigration partnerships piloting community ambassadors’ models, and others to replicate the family health ambassadors model, piloted by TNLIP, for improving newcomer access to family health services. Pop Up Hub Report
After a successful implementation of more than 15 rounds of Pop-up Hubs in various neighborhoods since 2016, the Health and Wellbeing Work Group of TNLP decided to develop a toolkit as a guide for those interested in replicating or adapting the model. The Pop-up Hub aims to bring a variety of organizations together to offer in-person services to newcomers using the Pop-up Hub model described below, to increase newcomer access to services and improve their settlement and integration outcomes.
