On Monday, July 31st, 2023, TNLIP’s Healthy Homes Advocacy Committee (HHAC) hosted TNLIP’s first ever networking event for non-profit food leaders. This networking event aimed to foster connections and enhance collaborations among North York food service providers to address food insecurity and improve community access to food. This was a highly successful event with representation by 35 leaders from 26 unique organizations including North York food banks, faith-based organizations providing food support, meals-on-wheels, grassroots groups (community farms, community gardens and collectives), City of Toronto food advocacy units, as well community organizations providing emergency relief. This event promoted collaboration among service providers through a series of thought-provoking discussions and activities around the food crisis in Toronto. The keynote speech and a presentation on the “Who’s Hungry Report 2022”, was delivered by TNLIP partner, Sarah Watson from the North York Harvest Food Bank.
