The 6th Annual Faith and Welcoming Communities Forum was held on Thursday, June 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, at Black Creek Pioneer Village. The event brought together representatives from settlement service providers, faith leaders, and community organizations to explore the crucial role of faith communities in supporting newcomers.
This year’s forum highlighted the often-overlooked contributions of religious institutions in fostering integration, particularly during crises such as the asylum seekers housing crisis. In the face of rising anti-immigrant rhetoric, the forum emphasized the importance of creating inclusive and welcoming communities. It showcased how faith-based organizations have played a pivotal role in celebrating diversity, nurturing social and economic integration, and reinforcing Canada’s vision of immigration as a mosaic rather than a melting pot.
The day featured meaningful discussions and collaboration, addressing the unique challenges faced by newcomers and celebrating the power of community engagement in building stronger, more inclusive societies.
