The Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI) have launched a project to test the benefits of a harmonized approach to language assessment and referral for newcomers. The project called “Coordinated Language Assessment and Referral System” (CLARS) offers a “one-stop” language assessment.
On October 24, 2012 Toronto North LIP held an All-Council Meeting to review Toronto North Newcomer Settlement and Employment Strategy. Over 35 Council members attended the meeting to learn about the findings of the research in the communities that had no prior LIP involvement, discuss the structure and processes of the Council, receive updates on workgroups, and provide feedback on the Strategy.
On June 15, 2012 the first work planning meeting of TN LIP Settlement, Language and Orientation Workgroup was held. The group shared local achievement and challenges, reviewed regional strategic directions and discussed regional priorities. Meeting Agenda attached.
