The Toronto North Local Immigration Partnership in partnership with Toronto Newcomer Office and Toronto Public Health held an event titled “A Conversation with Funders", on April 30, 2015 at North York Civic Centre.
The day long forum consisted of panel discussion and networking opportunity in the morning with workshops in the afternoon. The morning panelists included – Metcalf Foundation, Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Toronto Enterprise Fund and Green Shields Canada. In the afternoon, the 4 workshops namely (i) Needs Assessment, Rationale and Being Strategic; (ii) Work Plan And Budget; (iii) Partnership and Trusteeship; and (iv) Evaluation, were facilitated by personnel from Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade, Government of Ontario; Shelter, Support and Housing Administration, City of Toronto; United Way Toronto; and Toronto Urban Health Fund, Toronto Public Health, City of Toronto respectively.
The event was successful in helping members learn about funding opportunities and build organizational capacity to compose winning grant applications. The participants heard from funders and had the opportunity to ask questions, network with them and learn the finer points of writing winning proposals.
